It's been way too long since I emailed you with new BodesWell features. We've got some big announcements coming up this summer, but before we get into all that, I wanted to make sure to highlight some awesome new capabilities that we just shipped: Budgets and Expense Categories!
I know! Who can get excited about that stuff? Honestly, I've struggled with tracking and budgeting expenses for most of my adult life.
But you can't do financial planning without having a good sense of expenses, so we've tried to build this part of the app to work simply and powerfully, just like everything else we do.
Our main goal was to get our software to make sense of expenses automatically. Humans should not be moving transactions from one category to another by hand. It's a harder problem than it seems like it should be, and we aren't there yet, but this new approach is waaaay better than our first try.
Our second goal was to make setting and tracking budgets easy. You serious budgeters may find our approach under-powered (although now we've got two tiers of categories and the ability to create your own) but hopefully those of you who have tried to monitor your spending but have lost heart will like where we are going! We'd love to hear feedback either way.
Here's a quick video that demonstrates the changes (above) or if you want to dive in, hit the button below and add a "Budget Expenses" event to your timeline. This feature only works with connected accounts, so you may have to do that first.
